What Sovereign is
Sovereign is an end-to-end encrypted messenger. Message content and call media are encrypted on your device. The relay is designed not to store a readable message archive.
Account & identity
Accounts can be created anonymously. Your encryption private keys stay in on-device secure storage. A recovery phrase restores encryption identity on a new device — treat it like a password you never share.
Public profile metadata
Optional display fields (name, status, about, business name, vanity handle) and your public identity key may be shown on invite links so others can add you. Sharing a profile link discloses that directory metadata to anyone who opens it.
What we do not do
- We do not keep plaintext chat history on the server.
- We do not sell personal data.
- Avatar ciphertext may be stored as encrypted blobs; decryption keys remain under client control.
Push & device tokens
If you enable push notifications, device tokens are stored so we can wake your app for incoming messages or calls. Tokens can be removed when you sign out or reset identity.
